While success is not the be-all and end-all, it is something most of us strive for in at least one area of our lives. It creates self-worth, confidence, and increased income. The most successful people know a secret that those who aren’t successful aren’t aware of. The key to success is mindset.

Ultra-successful people like Richard Branson, Bill Gates and Steve Jobs who started with little or nothing have programmed their minds to believe in themselves and to visualize their success. They created goals, visualized their achievement, and then went for it.
If you want success, then you need to emulate ultra-successful people.
Preparing Your Mind for Success
First, you need to define what success is for you. Is it a promotion at work? Perhaps it’s a certain lifestyle. Write down what your definition is.
Next, create a goal. This is the endpoint of your road to success. Be specific about what your outcome will be; exactly what you want to achieve.
Once you’ve identified your goal you need to know the steps you can take to achieve it. This is your road map. If your goal is promotion at work, then what will you need to do to achieve that? You could create a list of things you need to do. For example:
- Take a training course in Advanced Accounting Methods.
- Get resume rewritten.
- Join a professional society.
- Network with accountants working at the level you want to achieve.
- Be more pro-active in team/management meetings.
Now that you know what you want to achieve and how to get there, you need to consider the best method to use to program your mind for achieving the success you desire.
Five Proven Methods to Program Your Mind for Success
1. Hypnosis
Using self-hypnosis by purchasing ready-made recordings to listen to can be very effective.
Alternatively, you could work with a hypnotherapist who will create a recording specifically for you, as well as provide individually tailored hypnosis sessions to help you.
2. NLP
While NLP techniques are generally undertaken within sessions with a trained Neuro-Linguistic Programming Practitioner, there are certain techniques you could use yourself. These include:
- Reframing
- The Swish
- Mental Movies
If you decide to go down this route, you need to understand how to use the techniques.
3. Affirmations
Positive affirmations are both popular and effective. You need to write them in the present tense and they are written as if you are living/have achieved the goal you want to achieve.
If you want to improve your weight loss and achieve a certain size, your affirmations might be:
- I am slim.
- I make healthy choices at every meal.
- I eat enough to satiate my appetite.
- I work out every day for at least 15 minutes.
- I feel confident about my appearance.
- I enjoy socializing as I get lots of complements about my appearance.
Post your affirmations on your fridge, in your bathroom, bedroom, and anywhere else where you will see them regularly.
Create a recording of your affirmations and listen to it first thing in the morning and last thing at night for extra effectiveness. This increases the likelihood of success as your subconscious is more receptive in the first 20 minutes after waking and the 20 minutes before you fall asleep.
4. Visualization
Visualizing yourself living the change you want to make is powerful. You can create a mental movie or a vision board.
To create a vision board you add pictures, words and your affirmations to poster board and post it where you will see it often.
5. Coaching
This is a powerful and effective way to help you achieve your goals. There are coaches who work in wide niches such as life or business. Additionally, there are coaches who specialize in niches such as achievement, creativity, weight loss, and even parenting.
Working with a coach gives you access to someone who will work with you to achieve your goals using a wide range of tools and techniques.
Whichever method you decide to use, it is important to remember that you hold the power to change your mind and your life for the better.
